INDIA'S GOLDEN TRIANGLE TOUR PLAN - DELHI AGRA JAIPUR PART 1


In This Post we are going to share the Delhi Agra Jaipur tour plan. This famous tourist circuit is also popular as India’s Golden triangle. It connects our capital city Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. It is called Golden Triangle because of the triangular shape formed by the locations of New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur on a map.The circuit is about 720 km by road. Each destination is about 4 to 6 hours of drive from another. Let’s start the tour.

DAY - 1
On day-1, reach the national Capital New Delhi either by train or air from any part of the country. Upon reaching New Delhi check into your hotel. 

DAY - 2 
On 2nd day of your tour go for Delhi sightseeing. A local cab will charge around Rs 2000 for whole day tour. First go to Lotus Temple. Lotus Temple is a building dedicated to the Baha'i faith. This magnificent structure is look alike of a stunning white petal lotus. The building was completed in the year 1986. The Lotus temple is one of the seven Baha'i Houses of  Worship present around the world. Currently, it is one of the most visited tourist spots in New Delhi. The park surrounding the temple is well kept. You can enjoy a walk around this calm and quiet park. During peak hours, you can see many people walking around this park and taking selfies.Your next destination will be Qutub Minar. It is an UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Mehrauli and its construction was started in 1192 by Qutb Ud-Din-Aibak, the then Sultan of Delhi. It is the tallest individual tower in the world and second tallest monument of Delhi. The first Muslim ruler of Delhi, Qutab-ud-dinAibak, started the construction of the Qutab Minar in 1200 AD, but could only finish the basement. His successor, Iltutmush, added the next three storeys. In 1368, Firoz Shah Tughlak constructed the fifth and the last storey. Even though in ruins, the Quwwat Ui Islam (Light of Islam) Mosque in the Qutab complex is one of the most magnificent structures in the world.

It was the first mosque built in Delhi after the Islamic conquest of India. In front of the Mosque, there is the famous iron pillar of Qutub Complex. The iron pillar is one of the world's foremost metallurgical curiosities. At the back of the complex you can see an L-shaped construction. It consists of Alauddin Khilji's tomb and a madrasa built by him.Currently, it is one of the most visited tourist attractions of Delhi. Most of the time, you can see a large crowd roaming around this place and taking pictures. Entry fee here is Rs 40 per person for Indian Tourist and Rs 200 per person for foreigners. Camera charge is Rs 30 From Qutub Minar go to Raisina Hill. The area houses India's most important government buildings, including Rashtrapati Bhavan,the official residence of the President of India and the Secretariat building housing the Prime Minister's Office and several other important ministries. The hill is a slightly elevated portion higher than the surrounding area. There are two blocks here. The building on the left hand side is the defence Ministry. The building on the right hand side is the Secretariat building housing the Prime Minister's Office. Behind this you can see Rashtrapati Bhavan,the official residence of the President of India. Next go to Ugrasen ki Baoli



Ugrasen ki Baoli is an ancient water reservoir which rises from the depths of the earth to stand atop 103 stone steps. This is a quiet place located in the middle of busy Connaught place. The place is popular for serene experience and an ideal sight for photography lovers. From Agrasen ki Baoli go to visit famous Red Fort. This is probably the most popular and commonly known place of New Delhi. The Red Fort is a historical fortification located in the centre of the city. It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal dynasty. The fort was constructed by Shah Jahan as a result of a capital shift from Agra to Delhi. It became a UNESCO world heritage site in 2007. The main entrance of the fort is Lahori Gate. It is named so because of its orientation towards the city of Lahore. After entering through Lahori Gate, there is a small market named chhatta chowk which sells local hand made products. You may enjoy some shopping here. This market leads to an open outer court. In the east wall of the court stands the now-isolated Naubat khanaor the drum house. On the far side of the inner court is the Diwan-i-Aam, the Public Audience Hall. The courtyard behind it leads to the imperial apartments. The building at the far right is Rang mahal or the residence of emperor’s wives. Beside it was the Khas Mahal or emperor’s apartment. On the left side of Khas Mahal stood Diwan-i-khas. Beside it, you can see hamam or Royal bath. West of the hammam is the Moti Masjid, the Pearl Mosque. Entry fee here is Rs 50 per person for Indian Tourist and Rs 200 per person for foreigners. Audio guided tour charge is Rs 200. Next go to visit Chittaranjan Park Kali Bari. This serene temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali and is an auspicious place for all Hindu devotees.

Our next destination is India Gate. The All India War Memorial, popularly known as the India Gate is located along the Rajpath in New Delhi. The grand structure of India Gate is an awe-inspiring sight. This 42-meter tall historical structure is one of the largest war memorials in the country. It is also a treat for architecture lovers. Dedicated to 82,000 Indian and British soldiers who died during the First World War and the Third Anglo-Afghan War, this monument has the names of 13,300 servicemen inscribed on its surface. The foundation stone of this structure was laid down in the year 1921, and the final building was unveiled in the year 1931.The premises of India Gate also house the Amar Jawan Jyoti, which is a kindled structure right underneath the archway. Built in 1971 post the Bangladesh Liberation War, the Amar Jawan Jyoti symbolises the eternal, immortal soldiers of India.Currently this is the most crowded tourist attraction of the city. 

Every time you will see people roaming around the complex and taking pictures.Behind India Gate, take a tour of National War memorial which is also a beautiful place to visit. The National War Memorial is a monument constructed by the Government of India in the vicinity of the India Gate to honour its Armed Forces. It was established on 25th February,2019. Names of martyrs killed in wars are inscribed on the memorial walls.A War Museum will be also constructed in the adjoining Princess Park area. Try to visit here at the time of sunset. At sunset you can enjoy the retreat ceremony here. At this place we finish our Delhi tour. The next we will move towards Agra. Agra is a place famous for stunning architecture. The city was once the capital of Mughal rulers and is home to one of the seven wonders of the world Taj Mahal. At Delhi, you will find numerous hotels and resorts of different budget range for night stay. After Delhi tour we will start our journey towards Agra from Delhi. Agra is a beautiful city located on the banks of River Yamuna in the Indian state Uttar Pradesh. The city was once the capital of Famous Mughal Rulers. Currently, it is one of the prime tourist attractions of the country as it has some most notable Mughal-era buildings like TajMahal, Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri. All of these places are now UNESCO World Heritage sites. Let’s start the tour. 



DAY - 3
On a 3rd day early in the morning, start for Agra from the capital city of India New Delhi. The distance of Agra from New Delhi is 233.1 Km via Taj Express Highway or Yamuna Expressway. By road, this is the shortest route from New Delhi to Agra. A local cab will charge around Rs 3000 for a whole day Agra tour from Delhi. It will take around 4 hours to reach Agra from Delhi via this road. The road has many lanes so that it is impossible to get slowed down in this road due to traffic. Moreover, the condition of this road is perfect. Hence, you can expect a speedy, no disturbance journey here. However, there is one disadvantage here, though nominal, this route has toll taxes. Other than private cars, there are also train and bus services available from Delhi to Agra. A train will take around 2 hours to reach Agra from Delhi. The fare is around Rs 150 per person. Bus fare is around Rs. 400 per person. Upon reaching Agra 1st go to visit Taj Mahal.

It is one of the most visited tourist attractions of India. If you are visiting Taj Mahal by your own car then you have to get down from your car 1 Km before the main building because the parking space of  Taj Mahal is 1 Km ahead of the main building. From there you can avail battery operated cars, buses, local horse carts or rickshaws to go to the adjacent ticket counter of the Taj Mahal. The bus rate is Rs 10 per person and the battery operated car rate is Rs 20 per person. The entry fee for Taj Mahal is Rs 50 for Indian tourists, Rs 1110 for foreign tourists and Rs 540 for citizens of  SAARC and BIMSTEC countries. There is one additional charge of Rs 200 for visiting the main mausoleum which is optional. Children up to 15 years are free to enter the premises. 

Taj Mahal is an integrated complex of structures. The main building of this complex is the famous ivory-white marble Mausoleum which the 5th Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan had built in the memory of his loving wife Mumtaz Mahal to house her tomb. This is a UNESCO world heritage site and also was declared as a winner of the new 7 wonders of the world. The place attracts 7-8 million visitors from all over the world throughout the year. If you are visiting the main mausoleum then you have to purchase disposable shoe cover which will be charged Rs 20 per pair. After entering through the main entrance you will see a long passageway passing through a well-manicured garden. In the middle of the passageway, there is a beautiful water fountain. On a public holiday or Sunday, you will see a large crowd roaming here and there and taking pictures in front of this wonder of the World. The view of the Yamuna River and surrounding from the basement of the main mausoleum needs a special mention. From Taj Mahal move towards Agra Fort. This is another UNESCO world heritage site. The fort was once the main residence of great Mughal emperors and it was built and redesigned by three great emperors of Mughal dynasty Akbar, Jahangir, and Shah Jahan. After you enter through the main entrance the 1st building you will see is the Jahangiri Mahal. It was built by Emperor Akbar. The building was built with red sandstone. It is a two-storied building and was once the main residence of Emperors Akbar and Jahangir. 

You will be amazed by the beautiful architecture of this palace. Moving from this palace you will come to the Diwan-i-aam or the public Audience hall. This is a beautiful hallway famous for notable artwork on its pillars. Behind Diwan-i-aam, there are the main imperial buildings built by Emperor Shah Jahan. The garden in front of the buildings is known as anguri bag. Behind it, you can see the residence of Emperor Shah Jahan and his two daughters Jahanara and Roshanara. Unlike Jahangiri Mahal, these buildings are built by white marble stones. Throughout the year you can see a large number of tourists visiting this beautiful fort and enjoying themselves. In the evening you can be entertained by alight and sound show here. You can also purchase the entry tickets of these two places online. There are numerous hotels and resorts available in Agra where you can put up for the night. All of them have online booking facilities. A typical mid-range hotel will charge around Rs 2000 for one night. Here we finish our 3rd-day tour. In the next post we will visit Fatehpur Sikri and then move towards Jaipur.
