Neighborhood legend says the stays of Father Christmas lie inside the medieval grounds.  What’s left of the deserted medieval village of Newton Jerpoint lies simply outside the Irish town of Thomastown, in Kilkenny. The ruins of Saint Nicholas’ Church, which dates to someday between the 12th and 13th centuries, still stand. Local legend has it that Saint Nicholas—a.k.a Father Christmas, the inspiration at the back of Santa Claus—is buried inside a cracked, carved tomb in its grounds.

According to local subculture, Two Norman crusaders nabbed the Ssaint’s remains while heading domestic to Kilkenny from the holy land over 800 years ago. Saint Nicholas’ intended tombstone depicts a cleric with the heads of  knights peering over his shoulder, which represent the knights who carried the bones. Although it’s actual that Norman knights from the place had been part of the crusades, the principle that they stole and relocated Father Christmas isn’t broadly conventional by means of non-locals.

Newton Jerpoint existed till sometime in the 17th century. Even though it become as soon as a bustling village with over a dozen taverns, the lack of its toll bridge and the re-routing of the local avenue in the end precipitated its residents to desert it. Now, the ruined church and tomb exist within the privately owned Jerpoint Park, a running farm that gives tours, fishing, and sheep canine demonstrations. Understand before you go : Jerpoint is just 2.0 miles (3.2 km) southwest of Thomastown, and 15–20 minutes from the metropolis center of Kilkenny.
